Pterygium

Pterygium is a triangular or wing-like shaped fibrovascular growth on the thin transparent membrane that covers the eye ball. It encroaches on the centre of the eye and if left untreated or poorly treated, it can result in reduction of vision or blindness.

Common Risk Factor For Pterygium

  • Family history.
  • Exposure to dry dusty, hot, windy enviroment
  • Dry eye

Pterygium can be treated and visual impairment from it is avoidable.
